Hello Friends,
Happy New Year!
The year 2011 should prove to be a busy one for me; besides performing regularly in the three formats listed above (click on each to learn more), I have plans to work on multiple recording projects and break into new venues. The most EXCITING news of the moment is a confirmation that I will be performing at The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Sunday, May 1st in the Kids Tent. It is my first time back at Jazz Fest since ’06 (under my own name, that is –I performed with the Schatzy Band in 2009). It’s also my first chance to bring my family music to the fairgrounds. I know many of the old Deltabilly Boys fans have been having kids (and even grand kids) so I hope to see lots of familiar faces. For those looking for another Deltabilly Boys reunion, I expect we will have a booking or two in New Orleans clubs around that date; watch this space! (If you’re not on the mailing list, you know what to do.)
News of a more immediate nature:
The Atwood’s residency continues with Dana & Jerome of Morphine. I perform regularly for children and families at Stellabella Toys, the Fox Branch Library in Arlington, and at two area preschools. And I have three fun shows coming up in January with my long-time collaborator Robbie Phillips:
Thursday, Jan 13 at Smoken’ Joe’s BBQ & Blues in Brighton, Massachusetts. This is a great little restaurant and one of (if not the) only Boston area venues dedicated to the Blues. Rob and I will be joined by Sean “Cave” Mannion on drums.
Saturday, Jan 15 at The Dolphin Striker. Jerome Deupree will fill the drum stool at this intimate Portsmouth tavern. Always a fun time, and well-worth the drive.
Thursday, Jan 20 at Sally O’Brien’s. Robbie and I will continue our stripped-down duo series at our favorite Somerville watering hole with old country favorites, blues obscurities, original tunes, jive numbers and everything else in-between.
I hope to see some of you out there soon. Remember to support live music, and check out my discography pages to purchase CDs.
